The Mux2700 Multiplexer is used to connect HART field devices to asset management systems like AMS™ Suite: Intelligent Device Mananger from Emerson Process Management. Each Multiplexer provides communication to 32 HART devices. A network is built by multidropping multiplexers; up to 31 multiplexers can connected to support a single network with a maximum of 992 field instruments per communication's port on your PC workstation. Additional networks can be built using other serial ports on the PC making it possible to connect virtually any number of devices to a single Asset Management system. 

At the heart of HIS, is the Mux2700, it acts a gateway device, routing communications between the maintenance workstation PC and the HART field devices. It interrogates each HART device, retrieves device information, and stores it in an internal database. This information is made available AMS Device Manager. The Mux2700 also acts as a message coordinator for communication between the maintenance workstation PC and the HART devices. 

Our Mux2700 provides two essential benefits: small size and low cost per point The small footprint is especially important for retrofit installations where cabinet space is costly and often unavailable. For new installations, we offer a wide range of termination panels that can be used instead of the DCS I/O panels and unto which the multiplexer can be mounted directly. 

To establish communications between AMS Device Manager and the Mux2700 Multiplexer, you need both a HART Multiplexer and a termination panel. In addition, an RS-232 to RS-485 converter must be placed between the Mux2700 and the computer's RS-232 port. 

Customized Termination Panels are replacement for proprietary DCS, PLC and ESD panels. These panels are ideal for new and upgrade installations where a HIS panel replaces the standard Field Termination Panel normally supplied by the DCS system vendor. 

HIS termination panels combine all the standard features included in the proprietary panels along with a position for the HART Multiplexer and adds HART filter (if required). This is a very simple and elegant solution that saves space and simplifies design while minimizing cost. 

External Termination Panels are used in conjunction with proprietary DCS termination panels. These solutions are ideal for retrofit installation where the DCS, PLC and ESD panels.
